Winding Down in Grenada

Wow! It’s so hard to believe that we’ve been in Grenada for almost a year now! It’s gone by crazy fast. Some people know this but I started taking some courses last September to help me pass the time… I know, I know, most of you are probably thinking, “just go to the beach!”. Believe it or not, you kind of get used to the beach, in much the same way as any local attraction. For example, back home we love going to Atlas (a beach by the river) in the summer time but that doesn’t mean we are there every day or every other day or even once a week. Yes, ocean beaches are slightly cooler then river beaches but still, it becomes sort of normal.

Anyway, back to my point, I finished my first year of a Psychology degree 2 weeks ago!! Yay! It feels so good to have accomplished something and even better to be on a break. Rod is almost done his term as well, he is writing one more final on Friday and then he is finished the first two years of medical school!! It feels like a huge milestone. We will be staying in Grenada while he studies for his Step 1 exam which is kind of the most important exam he’ll ever write because it will be a huge factor in what residency he will be able to get two years from now. He will write that exam in July which is also when we will find out where he will be placed for his clinical rotations for the next two years.

We will only get about a months notice before we have to pack up and move to wherever they put us! It’s a little weird to know that we’ll be moving but not knowing where to. We had to put in our top three picks for which states (US) we wanted to go to so we have a vague idea as to where we’ll be going but obviously can’t finalize anything – like finding a place to live – until we get that email in July!
